Chocolate Mousse


  • 1/4 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Tbsp Water
  • 1 Large Egg Yolk, Lightly Beaten
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar


  1. In a small saucepan, melt chocolate chips with water; stir until smooth. 
  2. Stir a small amount of hot chocolate mixture into egg yolk.
  3. Return all to the pan, stirring constantly. 
  4. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  5. Remove from the heat; and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Quickly transfer to a small bowl.
  7. Stir occasionally until completely cooled.
  8. In a small bowl, beat whipping cream until it begins to thicken.
  9. Add in sugar; beat until soft peaks form.
  10. Fold into cooled chocolate mixture. 
  11. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  12. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
